Reports of a meat shortage have swept through America that last few weeks with plants closing from fears of advancing the spread of COVID-19. Locally, prices of some cuts have increased, but Chicago is well situated and well stocked in the Midwest.
This isn't an invitation to eat more meat, even butchers — like Rob Levitt of Publican Quality Meats in Fulton Market — are advising customers to eat less. Chicago's restaurants have plenty of meat-free options for takeout and delivery. But stay at home has forced more people to cook from their own kitchens, and for those surveying the headlines wanting ethically sourced meats, this map is here with choices all across the city. They've also expanded to the North Side where customers can order via Tock and pick up at the Big Star across the street from Wrigley Field. In the West Loop, they're offering curbside pickup and delivery.
